From Kirsty:
Happy new year!
It has been a happy new year for us with a nice holiday and some progress in the gym.
Here:
Ariel stayed in Sydney in rehab to continue his therapy programme and social programme (lots of nice visitors and a trip to see “The Hobbit” at the movies). He has had small gains in his hands. A pincer grip between the index finger & thumb and some small wrist movements have been great.
Ariel started on a rehab treadmill on Wednesday (he is suspended in a harness over a treadmill). In the photo you can see him using his own leg strength to step. Remember this is still a long way from normal walking but it was truly fantastic to watch!
The heel and nose sores are much better, though it seems that the CPAP mask always causes trouble with his nose. Pray for an alternative and for energy despite poor sleep at present.
There:
The children and I had a nice break in Bega on the farm with family and friends. Swimming lessons, watermelon and church kept us all happy.
And everywhere:
We are very, very grateful to the many thoughtful and creative ways that you have cared for us over Christmas and the Summer. It is so humbling and wonderful. Thank you!!
James 4:15 says “Instead, you ought to say, ‘if it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.'” We are grateful that it was the Lord’s will that Ariel live, and that in this hard season we take one day at a time.
Love to you all!
Kirsty
