In his hands…

Today in our home, we celebrate “Ben’s Day” – the anniversary of meeting and saying good bye to our firstborn son, Ben. It is a date that quietly passes by each year – but this year arrived with a little more noise because it is now 20 years since we farewelled this little boy on the day he was born.

As we look at this photo of Ben’s hand in Ari’s hand, we also acknowledge that Ariels’ hands are much changed since the photo was taken. Loss of life and loss of strength are hard.

But we have much to thank God for with another son who just turned 11 and the life of our current family and the combined physical strength God has given us.

Mostly we thank Him for the gift of HIS son – who in his life and death gives life and hope to us all.

For those who pray:

Thank God for heartaches that refine us and loosen our grip on the world

Thank God for friends & family who have endlessly supported us with strength & courage

Pray for good sleep at night for Ariel and no muscle spasms during the night

Pray for our kids to love God and love people and to have the words to express what their hearts are feeling on tricky days such as this one

“Humble yourselves therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you”

1 Peter 5:6-7
