Salt and Light

My mornings are starting with “light” at the moment as I watch the sunrise over the neighbours farm. This is all due to our newest pet, a kitten called Luna who is in the habit of waking early for breakfast.

Often at this time, I listen to a podcast called “Salt” – Conversations with Jenny”, a conversation style interview where people talk about life and faith. I am finding it very encouraging.

Luna, our cat.
We have also enjoyed our online Grace Church services here in Bega over the past 2 Sundays, and our Zoom prayer meeting last week. It’s so encouraging to see technology and extra time being used for joyful purposes.
Technology has also been used by some kind neighbours who invited us to participate in a photo competition. We shared the photos with each other and voted on a winner at the end of the week. The theme of the competition was “Action”
…Another “action” photo set up by Ariel for the competition….

“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses it saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot…

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they might see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven”.

Matthew 5:13-16

For those who pray:

Pray that we would be salt and light to those around us even in these times of physical distance

Thank God for the continuing kindnesses of our friends and health team – our compassionate carers, empathetic GP, and generous nurse who did a home visit to give the family flu shots

For peace and calming faith for our parents and Kirsty’s Grandad, who returned home from rehab recently and turned 101!!

Pray for peace and calming faith in our home as we school 4 very different kids on top of our daily routine

Much Love to you in all of your home spaces – Kirsty

Because I am a friend of Jenny Salt, I got to chat in one of her interviews a few weeks ago about our life and faith in Quadriplegia If you would like to hear more of our story –
